July 15 And Spirit Of Unity

Honorable Muslims!

The Almighty Allah (swt) states in the verse I have just recited, "Indeed, Allah defends those who have believed. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone treacherous and ungrateful."[1]

The Prophet Muhammad (saw) warns us in the hadith I have just read, "A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He does not betray him, lie to him, or leave him faced-down. The chastity, wealth, and honor of all Muslims are inviolable for other Muslims."[2]

Dear Believers!

It has been four years since our nation had to face a high treason and a treacherous attempt of invasion. Our great nation, with the help of Allah the Almighty, defended their homeland, flag, adhan, and will. Our nation thwarted the aspirations of those who have for years derived benefits under the guise of serving the religion. Alhamdulillah, our nation set the traps of the oppressors upside down!

Dear Muslims!

It is stated in the Holy Qur'an, "And when it is said to them, 'Do not cause corruption on the earth,' they say, 'We are but reformers.' Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not."[3]

It should be known very well that the FETO, which attempted against the sovereignty and future of our nation on July 15, is a network of corruption and corruptors. It is not a religious group, but rather a home to sedition. They abused and exploited our devoutness to Allah, our love for His Messenger, our sadaqah, our qurbani on Eid al-Adha, and many values of ours we consider sacrosanct. They turned our young people, the apples of our eyes, into enemies against their parents and their nation with their insidious plans. Those who think they succeeded and turned out victorious by deceiving naive and sincere Muslims deceived only themselves in reality.

Dear Believers!

Let us remember the loud-and-clear and timeless warning of Prophet Muhammad (saw): "The believer should not be stung from the same hole twice."[4]

Then, let us remain conscious, have common sense, and be resolute. Let us not give any opportunity to those who try to abuse and exploit our national and spiritual values. The guidance of the Holy Qur'an and the example of Prophet Muhammad will direct our life into the right path. Let us live by the authentic religious knowledge we will learn from reliable sources. Let us protect and defend our unity and solidarity for the prosperity of our land, the survival of our state, and the peace of our nation.

As I conclude this Friday's khutbah, we pray that the mercy of Allah be upon our martyrs, who have from the past to the present sacrificed their lives for our homeland, and remember both our martyrs and veterans with gratitude.
